Organic poultry production in Skåne grows

Bosarpkyckling in Skåne, Sweden, is expanding and has more than doubled its production the last two years. The production is currently 50 000 chickens per year. The company has experienced a sales breakthrough and has taken a strong position in the market.

“The sales increase has lead to a whole new situation, which means more work in the production and great efforts in the market. Today we have hundreds of customers in all parts of Sweden. We also distribute poultry for some gourmet restaurants, the most well known being Café Opera in Stockholm. But the main business for us is the sales to Co-op and ICA retailers. The future looks bright for our concept and we also hope to export our products”, says Claes Alwén at Bosarpkyckling.

Claes and Birgitta Alwén produce, sell and distribute the Bosarpkyckling concept. A local slaughterhouse is linked to the company. The organic chickens are at least 81days old, while a tradidtional broiler is about 35 days old at slaughter.
