Fat food has negative impact on your memory

Researchers at Biomedical Center at Lund University, has made a mind-blowing discovery. The researchers at BMC used male rats that where fed with an extremely fat diet in order to test whether the brain is affected by fat food or not. The interesting results shows that the hippocampus in the brain of the rats was affected negatively, their memory capacity shrank.

Many people use relatively new methods to loose weight. One popular method is the Atkins diet, where you eat food with a high fat content. “The high fat content food helps many people to loose weight, since it tastes badly and makes people tired. The high fat content food is likely to have a negative effect on the brain. Nobody has studied this area before and it is interesting to find out if fat affects the brains capacity” says Charlotte Erlansson-Albertsson, Professor of Medical Chemistry at BMC, Lund University.

The study with the interesting findings is soon to be published. The name of the article is “High fat diet impairs hippocampal neurogenesis in male rats”. The main and very interesting key finding is that the brain is affected negatively by fatty acids. The hippocampus will shrink and the memory capacity will decline.
