New bread makes you wiser!

At Lund university new research indicates that you can get wiser just by changing your breakfast habits. The researcher, Professor Inger Björck, proves that the brain works better if you level out your energy supply. By choosing healthy GI Grain bread, your glycemic regulation will improve your blood sugar level and you will get wiser!

It has been shown that frequent hyperglycaemic excursions during the day increases the risk of cardiovascular disease though a mechanism involving oxidative stress and sub-clinical inflammation. From recent findings it is known that there are food factors capable of reducing the blood glucose responses to a meal, not only in the acute phase, but also after a second and third subsequent standardised meal. Key features of these food factors are that they make the food slowly digested in the upper intestine and increase the fermentative activity in the colon.

At Antidiabetic Food Center, Lund University, these food factors are further exploited and combined in order to design food products that can improve glucose tolerance in a day-long perspective. It is hypothesised that such food concepts may be valuable in the prevention of IRS and associated disorders.
