Organic milk is healthier than conventional milkNew tests at The Danish Institute of Agricultural Sciences -a sector research institution under the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries- suggest that organic milk is healthier than the average conventional milk. The study shows that levels of the healthy fatty acid CLA (conjugated linoleic acids) found in organic milk is generally higher than in conventional milk, and that the higher levels makes it an excellent source for this particular nutrient. The study also shows that intensification in feeding with clover grass will increase the part of fatty acid in the feeding ration, which can result in an increased content of fatty acid (especially CLA) in the milk. Moreover the compounding of fatty acid in the milk is influenced if the cow is in a negative energy balance and mobilises saturated fatty acid from the body.
