orientation, is rapidly developing. The concepts are spreading from
traditional ready meals to encompass many different food and different
types of food outlets such as supermarkets, convenience stores,
restaurants and canteens. Successful product development requires top

and distribution. The Öresund Region offers all this and much more.
Food and health Conditions for functional food production in the Öresund region are
excellent. There is great expertise in the key areas of functional food
and nutrition. Expertise stretches through the chain from biotechnology
to table to medicine. There are numerous food and food ingredient
companies triggering the development of new nutraceuticals, functional
food and enriched food.
Organic food The Öresund Region has the highest consumption rate and consumer
expenditure per capita for organic foods in Europe.
Scandinavia was the first region where organic foods entered mainstream
marketing channels when the Danish and Swedish supermarkets introduced
organic foods in the early 1990s. Demand continues to outstrip supply
in many sectors of the organic food industry. There is a continuous
flow of new organic products to the international market.
